Volunteering work
Since I was a kid, I was always interested in participating in volunteering projects and helping out the community. I am forever grateful that Ngee Ann Polytechnic have gave me such a great opportunity to get involved in their volunteering projects, making this interest of mine come true!
Projects I have participated in
Kaleidoscope Project
A 5-week project that engages with adults recovering from mental illnesses through befriending sessions and simple activities that build on creativity and motor skills, in collaboration with Bethesda CARE Centre (BCARE)
ALPS Reading Odyssey
A 10 - week reading programme that caters to children from 5 - 12 years old with learning difficulties, allowing them to be exposed to reading and aids in their literacy development
in collaboration with SHINE Children and Youth Services
Commserve 2023
An annual project HMS organises to serve the community by delivering meals to home-bound elders who are living alone in collaboration with TOUCH Community Service Meals-On-Wheels programme
ALPS Reading Odyssey
Duration: 10 weeks from August 2023 - October 2023, March 2024 - May 2024, Every Friday
Through this 10-week project, I was able to fulfill my role as a student volunteer and teacher to my assigned child by helping him to reach his learning goal. I was grateful to be given the opportunity to work closely with him as it improves my ability of coming up with good questions that require more in-depth answers and my interactive skills with young children. As I was often given the opportunity to implement the cognitive games played with smaller groups of children, it allows me to improve in demonstrating the games clearly and my confidence in speaking. As my performance was deemed outstanding by my teacher in charge, I was later selected to be the Project Leader of ALPS Reading Odyssey.
The Kaleidoscope Project
Duration: 5 weeks from 5th September 2023, Every Tuesday

Through this 5 - week project, I was able to fulfill my role as a student volunteer. As I am not the best in carrying conversations, this project allows me to step out of my comfort zone to speak to the Famers (a term used to call the citizens involved in the project) and engage in meaningful conversations with them. I had a lot of fun joining them in simple activities such as clay making and Zumba dancing.
Commserve 2023
Through this two - day project, I learnt that every process of packing food requires attention to detail especially when sorting out every resident's dietary preferences and how to approach them from their doorstep.
